Monitoring the health of your pet is crucial, as they may not exhibit visible signs of illness.
The health of your pet can be assessed by blood tests. Bloodwork is one of the many tools your veterinarian uses to diagnose and monitor disease. Bloodwork is used in healthy animals as well to establish a baseline, so we can compare and monitor changes in the future.
Blood testing offers you and your veterinarian a glimpse into the internal health of your pet. Liver and kidney function can be measured, bone marrow health can be assessed, as well as thyroid levels among many other things.
Blood test results can be available as quickly as the same day or 3-4 days depending on the test.
Blood tests should be performed based on the recommendation of your veterinarian. Yearly blood work/wellness-screening is encouraged. As pets age, and for management of certain conditions blood tests may be required more often.
