Dr. Laite With Her Family

Originally from Newfoundland, Dr. Cheryl Laite is a 2004 graduate of the Atlantic Veterinary College in P.E.I. She spent her first year in practice working with small and exotic animals in Newark, DE, and then decided the homeland was calling her back so in Ottawa she landed. Her initial time in Ottawa, was, unfortunately, cut short due to a family illness which brought her back to Newfoundland for a year while her mother went through treatment for breast cancer - and is still doing very well today. The many long hours spent working in Newfoundland at a local clinic allowed her to gain even more experience with small and exotic animals as well as some emergency work. After a year at home, she once again returned to Ottawa and has resided here ever since.

Her time in Ottawa has brought many adventures. She’s done everything from working as a small animal veterinarian, volunteering for both the Ottawa Humane Society and Ferret Rescue of Ottawa, to skydiving, taking long rides on her Ducati Monster and newly found dirt bike, and even getting married in the summer of 2009 (which surprised everyone!!).

Her loves in life are, first and foremost, her family and husband, Dan, her friends, and her most faithful and furry companion of the past 11 years - Harley T. Stanx. Harley is her 11 year old lab/rottie mix she adopted in her first year of vet school who is like a child to her (a child that drools a lot, however). Second to that, Cheryl loves travel, motorsports,(adventure) sports, volunteering (don't be surprised if she asks you to sponsor her for some charity!) and fitness. In the past year she has actually competed and placed in several fitness competitions bringing her to the national stage. She prides herself in her empathy and compassion for others and believes in making a difference, no matter how small.
